LED 1157's prob.
I recently bought 2 1157 LED replacements for the rear tail/brake lites. The incandescents work fine but the Superbright BA15 rxl3 lites are way brighter. Only one big problem.. When you apply the brakes they dim instead of brighten. And When the parking lights are on, they are the brightest. Opposite of what they should be. But they work fine with the old bulbs. Bad polarity in the bulb you think? They are not there now to answer my questions, so I was wondering if anyone else had these issues with their bulbs.. I know some of you may have used them..Cheers D

I used the led 1157's for a couple of years and I was real happy with them until I saw a 65 with the full led light lens - Wow. I've bought two sets of the full lens leds and they are excellent. If it turns out that your bulbs are bad I'd recommend the full lens leds in the future.

On eBay at times there are sellers that provide the entire tail light ***'y for C1/C2 cars (I run them)...its the complete red-colored lens; the internal LED lights and the whole thing plugs into existing wiring...

1157s can only go in one way. staggered pins. So why do the old 1157's work and the 1157 LED's are the opposite. Just thought someone else may have had this experience. all this stuff is made in china.. Yes they are identical.

Can you post a link to those you recommend?
Thanks!

Go to www.uapac.com and look for Corvette under vintage usage.
This will show you the complete corvette LED tailight assembly. They are on ebay all the time. Two for about $60 and they will be the best investment for safety on your vette you will ever make.
I have them on my 58 and they are bright! about twenty LED's in each assembly.
Regards,
Fred
Looks like I took too long....6T5rush found them..lol.

I suspect the low current draw of LED's helps in other ways ... like reducing the famous C1 fuel gauge 'flop' when you hit the brakes due to the shared ground circuit...

Fred,
Doesn't appear that they list Mid Year usage on their site. If I remember correctly the 61/62 tail lights are the same as the Mid Years, aren't they? Would they be the same as the 61 Impala? That way a person could install the back up lights also.
