I have decided to forego my desire for a mid year bb roadster.
I have a 66 vert 300 hp. a/c pg, pw, ps, pb...had it for 22 years...going in for nassau blue paint back to original color. Also have a triple black 04 vert with 13,000 miles.
Tooo many made up cars, tooo much money...JUST TOOOO EASY TO GET STUNG OUT THERE.
Just gonna stick with what I got and get my bb torque thrills out of my C5....
I have noticed that there has been alot of Big block midyears for sale in the last couple months. I think the pi$$ poor economy has alot to do with that. There is one here locally for sale. He told me he wished he had a "small block car" I told him I would trade but he needs the $$$ in the worse way.
sad to see someone forced to sell their car...But, if its between losing your car or your house...
I hope (pray) the new year is better than this one..
I've been thinking of a BB C2 myself. Just about everyone I meet with experience with these cars tells me to keep my SB car!
Sorry, not from me. I've had a BB and SB C2s and I much prefer my BB. Most people who own these cars don't drive them and don't know how to keep them in tune.

i think you need to meet different folks!...i have owned and tuned both big and small blocks and the bb cars have a definite edge especially when you can get 500 lbs torque at 3200 rpm......you really dont notice the weight even without alu, heads but would recommend power steering. there are some expensive parts needed for the conversion but they are readily available and transform your vette with some serious performance..... im' in no way bashing the venerable mouse....

I have both and love my small blocks. But, there is nothing like the torque of a big block to put a big grin on your face
i had a '65 coupe 327/365 nom and i loved the sound of that high winding solid lifter sb. after 10 years i traded it for a '66 roadster bb. sorry, but i'll never go back to the sb. nothing beats romping on this bb and being nailed to my seat. i'm not a matching #'s guy and it's true the bb has taken a hit pricewise, but when the economy comes back look for the bb to really take off just like they did in the past. bb vettes, mustangs, mopars, and chevys will go through the stratosphere. my advice, buy one now while the're cheap, it won't last!
Heck, with the way that the C5 motors can be modded so easily, you can invest a couple of bucks in a cam, reprogram, and headers/catback and that thing will be a lot of fun. Then you can still enjoy having the C2.
Back when these cars were new one of the various performance car magazines had a quote which I have remembered all these years:
"Cubic inches are better than anything except cubic cash."
Their point was - true, you can take a SB and tinker and tune and make it run a whole lot faster. But - if you start with a BB and put similar effort into it, IT will run a whole lot faster too.

I replaced the bb in my roadster with an sb. It is also an A-C PB PS Muncie car. I thought I might put the bb back after 20 years or so, but I am now working on year 23 of ownership and having fun.

Me three! I have never had a person tell me they wish they had their SB back. Nothing wrong with them as my old L79 was a blast and we just love our C6 Z06 which is in another league. But as already stated the torque makes for fun and for me, the sound baby. The BB just has a sound of its own and car people know the tune immediately. And we all know BB's fetch more money in Corvettes, Camaro's, Chevelle's, etc.. I also agree if your going to possibly purchase one, now is the time to be looking as they will rise again.
I love SB's so enjoy the car as they are all great

a friend of mine builds '67 BB Vets, 1 or 2 a year, shows 'em, sells 'em .... when he drove my '65 with the stroker in it he just rolled his eyes and had a ball, he's building a '67 restomod now with a 502, can't wait to run him..... if i can just get the darn thing to hook up!! Big blocks do sound sweet though NO BB TERROR HERE
back in 1966 when i graduated from high school, a car magazine compared all the '66 cars in the 1/4 mile. imagine the surprise when the 427/425 vette beat them all! that includes the mopar hemi charger and the cobrajet mustang; all were off the showroom floor!

65 conv 327 365 hp. But have a 04 vette with a YSI unit on it and 857 rwhp for fun or the guys that thinking they have a fast car. This is also on a mustang dyno. Most guys will not put there cars on a mustang dyno cause most say 10% too 12% lower # on the mustang dyno. Most go with a dyno jet.. I have a nassau blue 65 with white and blue interior and love the car man. The 65 will do 11.61 in the 1/4 mile. The 04 will be in the 9,s... Man have fun with both your cars.....

All maybe..... except the 427 Cobra. Not even a contest.
