Default C-1 paint mod

Just curious if anyone ever saw this done for real.

Long ago I bought a plastic model of a '57. The artwork showed a black car with red cove and red interior. In an artists error or perhaps just to make the thing stand out, that portion of the lid for the softtop which was INSIDE the top was also shown red to match the interior, rather than black as it should have been.

The result was actually not bad looking, provided you never intended to take the top down or off. I no longer have a C-1 and never actually considered doing it to mine when I did, but was just wondering if anybody did such a thing.

That's how the '57 paint scheme was designed - the interior of the top compartment (including the underside of the lid) and the inside of the trunk (including the underside of the trunk lid) were painted interior trim color, not body color. See photos below of the correct '57 paint treatment.

No, what I meant was that the outer part of the top compartment was painted red. One would assume that the border between the red and the black would have been exactly under the bottom edge of the soft top or hardtop. Imagine if you will, that the top were incapable of ever being removed. The "interior" portion of the outer side of the top compartment is what I'm referring to.

In other words, if you were sitting inside, the glove box and the part of the deck lid which were inside the car - inside the top - were interior color not body color.

Again it was only artwork but a rather interesting appearance. Anybody have the box who can photo it and post? Think it may have been an AMT model?
