I am replacing my door panels and fixing all the issues inside the doors. While taking them apart, I noticed that the drivers side door lock **** says nothing, while the passenger side says open and lock. Does anyone know for sure what a 65 Convertible should have? Thanks!
65 (and 66) lock ***** have no wording on them. The **** is chrome and the raised center section has about a dozen grooves on it. The 67 **** says "LOCK" on it with an arrow pointing the direction to lock it, but doesn't say "OPEN" on it. The 67 has a single, black painted, groove. 63-64 ***** have a reflector in them and pre 62 ***** are small with a tab extending beyond the round part of the ****. I don't know of any **** used on Corvettes that had the word "OPEN" on them. The 68-77 **** has no wording on it either, "LOCK" and "UNLOCK" is found on the bezel behind the **** on these years.
Some 60's era Novas had lock ***** instead of buttons, but I think they used the same ones as the 65-66 Vette. Just because he has a **** that fits his Vette, doesn't mean they came from a GM car. Just a thought.
