Hello...I am actually new to this scene. I am currently looking into buying a project car (1958-1960). I am wondering if any one can help me out and giving me the bsics as far as what to look for and reasonable prices. Also the best place to find one. I appreciate your help.
My car was a project '60 several years ago. I bought old car traders, sportscar traders and whatever else I could get my hands on. It took a long time to find one. Most were in the mid 20's or total junk for 10k. I quit looking for a few months because I was getting tired of looking. Then I picked up a local autotrader and there it was. '60 Covette for 17K. Not only that, it was in my home city at the time. I looked at it and bought it. If you are dreaming of getting on for 10K that can be fixed for another 10K I don't think it will happen. They only made 3 years of that style with the teeth in the grille and all.
I may sell mine at some point, but it isn't a project and I would have to get $32K for it.
Hello Edwardo,
I have been in this hobby for 35 years and would be happy to help you find a project. A very good friend of mine has quite a few cars currently that are projects. He has a 58, a 59, two 61's and a 62. Some have been painted and motors done.........others are raw and need lots of work.
He is currently building a new home, so his restoration energy is in "home" vs "car".....which may make him more motivated.
Give me a call if I can help. 909-794-7905 e-mail: v.vettefinderjim@verizon.net
