You're missing digits on the pad stamp; there should be at least one letter (or two) after the F0118.
Check the casting date again - it should be A 17 2.
That casting number is only correct for a very late '61 (built after March or so).
My 61 was built May 24, 1961. it know has a 350 but want to get a close to correct engine to build factory specs over time. this engine is on craigslist and skips but complete and wants 250.00 for it. is it the right engine to do for my 61 to be close to correct?
I know it's not number matching and never will be but my 61 isn't going for NRCS either.
Interesting...my '61 rolled out on May 18th...about a week before yours and has the
3756519 block. Could that make this the very week they switched off to the 'very late'
3789935 block ? The date at the rear of my block is: D271 = April 27th, 1961.
You should not have a '2' at the end of your date and absolutely not have '20'! NCRS allows a 6 month window so if its
a Jan '61 block its fine for your car PROVIDING you get the last letters off the stamp pad suffix (and they are correct for 1961; must be either: CQ, DG, CT, DJ, CR, CU or CS) and the date issue above is cleared up.

I should clarify what I meant. He indicated that there was a "20" at the end of the casting date, and most likely what he saw was a "2" followed by a screw-head impression, not a "0". In any case, that's after his car was built, and would get a 175-point deduction.
