So... last night we were driving home from dinner and one of the local lots had a 2005 black Corvette sitting on the lot... so I went to test drive it... 46K miles on it... beat up on the inside... dented speaker covers on the door speakers... gouges and scuff on the door panels... took it for a drive anyway... next big turn off... the previous owner installed a powered subwoofer box that sat right behind the seats and you could hear the amp power buzzing the entire time... then as we approach the first stop light the brakes squeak and have a wobble in the pedal... I made a U-turn and went straight back to the dealer... half mile trip total... we get out of the car and the salesman says... "So.. whaddaya think?".... to which I reply... "Horrible..." to which he says... "How about a great price to drive it home today?"...
SO disappointed...

Every great car is one bad owner away from becoming a turd-bucket. Sorry your test drive was less than compelling.
The new models are great driving cars, if not driven into the ground already. I use my 07 as a daily driver, sharing daily duties with one other car, and it's a terrifically comfortable and well mannered car. It's got less than 7,000 miles on it so far so it's still effectively new, but I don't plan on it becoming a bucket either.

I think if you drove a more well taken care of C6, you probably would have liked it alot more. That said, my brand new 05 was a problem car right from day one. It drove well though, at least when it started
I had a similar experience when looking for my daily driver a couple years ago (not a vette). I drove 4 different cars of the same make/model/year, and they were COMPLETELY different cars. Some were used hard and put away wet, and others were well kept.
Sounds like a bad car made for a bad experience. Like any generation Corvette you drive. Good ones are good, bad ones are bad. If you ever get to Ohio, look me up. I'll let you drive a good one !!
