Can someone tell me how you tell the exact build date,? Will the vin tell you? And whats the breakdown of numbers.?Thanks, Rob

Go to the following link at the Corvette Registry and enter the year and last 5 of the vin and it will give you the estimated build date.

Mike, Thats what made me wonder how they get the build date. They told me around Jan12 62, from the last 4 #s, but I was wondering if the rest of the vin meant anything date wise.

If I remember correctly, the last VIN produced each month was documented, and then from there it's basic math to calculate an average number of cars produced each working day and in turn which day any given VIN was built.

I went online and found a C1 birthday calculator. I should have bookmarked it but didn't. It's out there somewhere.
