Default Engine I.D. help please

I posted this in the C3 section although not much luck and prolly due the fact that it is hard to say.

But I do have another question:

What years and size motor got the breather tube on the back of the block?

This is my post from the C3 section:

I just picked up a 72 coupe and am trying to determine what the motor is.

The casting numbers (3959512) says it's a 327.

Although as I read further it says those casting numbers were also used on "CE" blocks.

CE blocks were Warranty replacments or over the counter replacements.

My engine I.D. numbers are: CE6P21242

I did a fair amount of hunting and thats all I could find on line.

Heads are double hump angle plugs- have not pulled the covers yet.

Any info greatly appreciated,

Denis

Denis

Not sure if I am answering the question you want or not, but I believe 67 was the last year for the small block to vent in the back. The old motors used what was called a "road draft" tube, later it evolved into a PCV system.

Do you have the casting date for your engine ??

Yes that does answer my question, and it is not well stamped but, it appears to read 117 or 177 which would make sense as to your answer. It's a 1967 with 202 heads.

Thanks much,

Denis
