Engine I.D. help please
But I do have another question:
What years and size motor got the breather tube on the back of the block?
This is my post from the C3 section:
I just picked up a 72 coupe and am trying to determine what the motor is.
The casting numbers (3959512) says it's a 327.
Although as I read further it says those casting numbers were also used on "CE" blocks.
CE blocks were Warranty replacments or over the counter replacements.
My engine I.D. numbers are: CE6P21242
I did a fair amount of hunting and thats all I could find on line.
Heads are double hump angle plugs- have not pulled the covers yet.
Any info greatly appreciated,
Denis
Not sure if I am answering the question you want or not, but I believe 67 was the last year for the small block to vent in the back. The old motors used what was called a "road draft" tube, later it evolved into a PCV system.
Do you have the casting date for your engine ??
