Default How much space?

.........Between the side of the frame and the inside of the side pipe. I'm ready to weld the adapters now. It's a '64 that didn't have sidepipes before and I'm sure the rear slots are correct but there is some slop. I'm at 3/4" equally from front to rear now, do they need to be closer or farther out? 2.5" sidepipes.

Thanks for the help.

Dave

Have you checked how close they may be to the shields? I would think you want them equal distance. Does the spec in the AIM apply? Dennis

Can't tell since the body isn't on yet. The AIM says .5" minimum, but doesn't specify 2 or 2.5" pipe size. My thinking is that even 1/4" is acceptable but I'd like some confirmation from someone with a sidepipe car.

My side pipe car would not be a good example since I have headers. Dennis

So do I, Hedman. I'm coupling into stock sidepipes so I'm having to cut and weld the ball adapter in place on the sidepipe. It has to be right. I can vary the distance on the entire length of the pipe from about 1/8" to 3/4" I need a fairly close number so when I get to installing the sidepipe covers I don't run into an install problem.
