actually the code 'IP' was used for the 450 HP 427 and 'IK' is the 425 HP 1966 427 engine... which in reality is the same engine...Could be a difference of opinions as to why two codes used on the same engine parts in the same car...It brings to mind L78 396 engines too

I believe the IK is for the 427 cars with M22, and IP was the 425/450 hp cars.
IP is L72. The IK code is subject to debate, from what I have read in discussions passed is that the IK code was reserved for the 66 L88 that supposedly never made production. I have yet to see any picures of an IK pad.

i was told the ik pad was for the 961 block,....i have never seen a 961 block in a 66 either.....
