Default fastner suggestions

I am putting my hardtop back together for my '60. As I put it back together and realize that I do not need to be NCRS or even close, It just needs to be fastened back together so that it doesnt come apart or break in any way, does anyone have some suggestions for fasteners that would be like a rivet but instead of being flat on just one side, it would be flat on both sides?

I would like to find something in the 3/32" diameter maximum that would smash out flat on both sides without me having to hammer the snot out of it......ideas? I looked at T rivets (aircraft type) and they have great strength but also come in bigger sizes than I would want.

Ideas or suggestions?

thanks in advance.....

If you can't use the barrel nuts, in some way, that's used to hold on the stainless trim go to your local "mom & pop" hardware store. I'm sure I've seen something like that at mine. And...oh yeah take your imagination with you. Lar

I agree with 61retro's suggestion above. Here are pics of some of those type fasteners I've used for various repairs/projects. I used them to replace the hinge rivet on the vent window on a Vette once.

They're called Aluminum Screw Posts and I usually get them in the Automotive Screw drawer at Lowe's. They come in different sizes, plus the shank can be shortened to fit an application.

The females can be open-end like the set on the left or rivet-smooth like on the right..........

good suggestions! I looked at them and they tend to be for thicker joints as opposed to thin ones. but I am y have a use for them on some other pieces. I keep coming back that I will need to use something more like a rivet (the original rivets were solid SS and smashed flat) as opposed to a pop rivet.

Thanks for the suggestions....
