Hi Guys,Looking for any tips on putting the windshield back together .Had the frame restored.Any help will be appreciated Last big item on the restoration. Thanks Bob W
It is a fun piece! I just did this the weekend before last.
I noticed it helps to have an extra hand putting the seal onto the windshield. You really have to pull to get the top of the windshield seal onto the windshield. Make sure to measure the seal to the correct location. Also, i would suggest adding some window sealer at the bottom of the seal to prevent it from coming off when you place the windshield assembly back onto the car.
I kept the top windshield channel together then added the two side window post before placing it onto the glass. Then put the mount tabs onto the bottom windshield channel on each side. You have to have the bottom channel completely assembled before attaching it to the bottom of the windshield. In my case the bottom windshield did not have to go completely over the seal. Not sure if thats how it is suppose to go though worked for me. The line between the top fiberglass at the curved looked good when I prefitted the windshield assembly to the body.
It took some time to get it together.
That document would have helped!!!

Just signed on to search for the same info as I'm laying out all the pieces that I have had restored. Cad plated parts that don't show and chrome plated ones that do. Seals and fastenings, etc.
The ST-12 has a section on windshield frame assembly that is excellent.
If the posts were chrome plated test fit them to the top header stainless first as they usually need to be ground down carefully to fit properly.
One key to the final assembly steps is use soapy water and a good rubber mallet and don't be afraid to knock the frame together with the mallet.
The ST-12 has a walk-thru but it doesn't have HD color photos nor tips on how to deal with some of the problems with newer repro parts - like the rubber you get now.
BTW - I would check Corvette Rubber first and buy all the soft parts from them: https://www.corvette-rubber.com/mm5/...ory_Code=5WATC
