I am evaluating a '65 for a client and I am concerned about the originality of the car. Can anyone give me the earliest known VIN number to use rosette rivets on the VIN tag?
Thank you Ron. I know 9000 is very close to the cut off point for round rivets but I don't know how early the first rosette rivet car was manufactured.
I am currently looking at a very early VIN number '65 and it has rosette rivets, which makes me suspicious; however, before declaring it to have been doctored, I want to try to find out just how early the change over was started.

Checkout Noland Adams Book Volume 2, survey on page 54. The table he includes shows the first rosette rivet documented was VIN #7811. Then there was a mix of pop and rosette rivets until around #9998. After this point, rosette was used.
No problem Mike, and thanks to you as well. I probably knew at one time that the rosette rivets started in the 1965 model year, but if so I had long forgotten it. I need to go back and re-read Noland's book, a lot of good information there that I need to refresh myself on!!

If anyone is keeping track, my 8708 has rosette rivets.
