I'm completing the resto of my gauge cluster and all light bulbs. The one bulb that is the most odd is the one under the clock and lights the heater controls. The number is GE1893. In the event that I can't find a replacement, what about using a GE1816. The specs are very close, or is there another that will work? Dennis
An 1816 will pull a fraction of an amp more (my testing showed 3/100ths of an amp more) than an 1893. Specifically, installing 1816s versus 1893s into my 65 cluster consistently showed a .31-.35 Amp impact for an 1816 bulb, .28 Amp impact for the 1893 bulbs, as the current was measured at the fuse panel. But I don't imagine you'll have any trouble finding 1893s at your local FLAPS

Do you know if theres an issue using the 1817 bulb in place of the 1816 for the whole cluster? I want the gauges to light better at night.
The issue I had with my 65, which has factory A/C and thus a few extra bulbs, was the 4 amp rated circuit versus the cumulative amp draw of all the new bulbs.
You may wish to test your system by connecting a multi-meter in place of the 4 amp panel lamp fuse, and then turning on the lamps to see how much amperage is currently going through your circuit. Then compare the amp draw of an 1817 to the 1816 and see if your system can handle the upgrade.
