Interesting. Tom stops supplying conversion boxes and Borgeson raises their price over a hundred dollars for theirs.

Captive audience syndrome?

Yup, your seeing the law of 'supply and demand' in action. In Haiti, after their problem, gas if you could find it was going for $10 a gallon. Bill

I guess I missed something, it was mentioned that Tom, Corvette Steering is no longer supplying the jeep Box, If true it is to bad.

I hope I'm wrong because I installed his some 4 years ago and believe in it. I have tried to share this with others in the past, Jeff, Silverslash, convinced me this was the way to go, and it was.

Dennis:

Not to hijack the thread, but in response to your observation, Corvette Steering no longer shows the conversion on their website. I also run one of Tom's setups and love it. I haven't called Tom directly. Perhaps he will still service the boxes we purchased if we should have need

well i ordered my steering box from Summit but they kicked the order directly to Borgeson who will be shipping it, at a lower price than Borgeson offers it... don't know about Tom or Corvette Steering, wasn't aware of him, i dealt with Norm at Summit.

I ordered one from Summit last night also. I already have power steering so I didnt need the pump. I did however opt for the braided hose which is a total rip off but I did it anyhow cause I like the look. I got the box, rag joint, hose kit, and drag link for I think about $812. I am a little worried about shortening my steering shaft.

When I ordered my from Tom, I spoke with him and he commented he only had a couple of them left and was not going to continue doing them......A real shame because it is a good complete setup. This was about 6 month ago

Mine showed up yesterday. However the drag link and rag joint are back ordered and wont show up for about 2 weeks. Thats ok because I think am going to try to refurb my entire steering linkage, paint part of the frame while box is off, etc,..... Anyhow my box leaked in shipping. I saw a post on here where the Borgeson guy said that is normal. Not sure why, I think I will send him a pm.

This is the explanation I got from Jeff at Borgeson. Makes sense.

"All steering boxes are 100% pressure tested at our facility before they are shipped. We drain these as best as possible before shipping however the inner workings of a steering box provide many places for the fluid to hide. The box is leaking from the red plastic caps used as dust covers on the hose fittings your hoses will seal this".

Yeah but they only give you $50 which I dont think is worth it. I would think some of these rebuilders would give you more then that but I dont know for sure.
