1964 Corvette Service manual
Is there a preferred source for a 1964 Corvette Service manual? Have a lot of nitpicky type questions that could probably be quickly answered with a halfway decent manual.

the service manual is the same book you would have found at the local Chevy dealer back then so the mechanic had a clue on how to fix the car. it showed how to remove, repair, and reassemble all of the common parts that can fail on a normal use. if you need nit picky question answered a NCRS judging manual is what you are after

There was no 'service manual' for '64 model year. Rather, the '63 Corvette Shop Manual is used along with a separate '64 Supplement. They are not particularly difficult to find from the usual suspects in aftermarket or from NCRS store/publications.

The 64 factory assembly manual (AIM) will also be a big help to fill in the gaps when working on your 64. A number of items changed in 64 from 63 and the 64 supplement is not very comprehensive. Pilot Dan

One excellent source for both reproductions and used originals is FAXON's at www.faxonautoliterature.com Reproduction manuals are available from many sources such as E-bay, most Corvette parts suppliers, NCRS, etc.

The NCRS on-line store (at www.ncrs.org) has all of them - the '63 Shop Manual, '64 Supplement, and the Assembly Manual.

I think you can still get them from the original publisher, Helm.

Floyd Clymer put a lot of factory pics and procedures in his "Corvette Sting Ray Handbook", a large format paperback of a couple hundred pages that retailed for $5 in the '60s and '70s. It covered '63 through '65 and was helpful to me for a lot of different jobs on my C2, maybe they're still relatively cheap today?
