Default Dash Board Install

Hi Guys

Can anyone help me out, I was putting the dash in as suggested with all the parts affixed.Upon intial try I had to remove the defroster vent in order to get it back in place.. then the screws stripped and broke the speaker grill (Originall pc. who'd figure a cast pc would x-thread and break after after 49 yrs..LOL) so now I need to await a new speaker grill, so nothing will get done til next week. I think its going to be a bitch puttin back once the dash is placed is it me or are you supposed to affix the vent after placement its Confusing me because even out of the car all three nuts that affix it to the dash are a real bother to get to..
can someone give me a hint..Thanks

It's very reachable with the glove box removed and an extention from the right side. Not a big deal. Pilot Dan

Howdy,
What year car are you working on? For something to be 49 years old, that would be a 1961, but your description suggests a 63-67?

No need to worry, the speaker grill, speaker and defrost duct can easily be installed with the dash already in the car.

Thanks Guys...

Dash went in in Minutes, its amazing how easy everything goes back when using all new hardware etc...
I guess its time tio call it quits until I get the Speaker grill, once thats done my guess is the rest goes easy too...
The only thing that keeps me up is the steering column, I traded out a telescoping unit for an ididit unit..The mounting hardware is slightly diffrent between a standard column and the tel column..
Does anyone have experience with that...

I always recommend this idea when I see somebody removing a dash or any part of it.

I used the following to get of, and avoid any squeaks or rattles.

Auto paint or a good auto house will carry a product called dum-dum, it's a tacky clay like material. Describing it's use is probably easier. I was recommended to use it everywhere that a surface would touch another. It acts like a cushion keeping the surfaces from rubbing, thereby by eliminating those noisy squeaks that drive you nuts. After 3 years no squeaks here.

Just a thought.
Dennis

I know that product as 3M Strip Caulk.
