I just purchased new American Racing Torque IIs. These were 17 x 7 with 4 inch backspace. However the offset they sent me is 1 mm on these rims. Should I be concerned?
I think the 17x7 is a 4" backspace standard wheel. Which would be about zero offset, a 7" rim is about 8" flange to flange. That rim will work but depending on tire size will need the fender lip clearanced. A 225/50/17 will probably rub with stock fenders. This size rim is a better option, http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c1-a...17-wheels.html. Ron B.
I have 17X8 with 4 1/2" backspace and 225/50 tires. No problems with front or rear clearances. Very close at rear though. 17X7 with 4" backspacing will be fine. I'd be more concerned about the tire width but the 4" backspacing on a 7" wheel will give equal clearance at both rear wheel opening and trailing arm. I would not go any wider than a 9" wide tire. 225/50 is 9.1 to 9.2 inches wide and will be very close.
