Is it true??? The hood supports were on the left (driverside) for all Big Block AND small blocks with Factory Air Conditioning.
Any Pictures to support your thoughts?
Noland Adams' book, p.217, '64 sbc with C60, hood support on passenger side; p.339 '66 sbc w/C60 support on pass side; p.122, 63 w/C60, support on pass side.
I see the trend... My car is a March built 65 so it is possible the change may have been implimented mid year?? The car is also A/T and the cooling lines in addition to the A/C lines along the skin added to the hood support relocation to the drivers side.
yup, passenger side for '65 down, drivers side on '66 & '67's Rat or Mouse hoods
Not correct. I have 1967 327/350 HP factory air car with hood support on the passenger (right) side. Low mile, original car. All the small blocks were same as mine for 1967, but the big blocks moved to the drivers side.
I think 1966 was a "mixed" year. Need to read Noland's Book on C2 Restoration and the NCRS Judging Manuals for details/specifics.
Its on the passenger side on my car(64)with factory AC

it appears the left mounted hood supports on S/B A/C cars were limited to late year 65 & 66 cars only. Noland Adams page 288 and 338 pictures show them on the drivers side.
I have a 1966 L79 a/c coupe w/ ps and have every reason to believe she is original. Noland Adams states the support should be on the driver's side, mine is on the passenger's side. Go figure. Nov 65 build.

Larry
For 63-65 there were no provisions on the LH side for supports, so none had any LH side mounts, UNLESS it was VERY VERY late production `65. It could be remotely possible for a `65 to have a `66 inner fender. But, I doubt it. I have not personally examined the first `66 or the last `65.
Then early `66 SB AC cars have been observed with modified hoods and the supports on the LH side like 66-67 BB cars. During the first of the `66 year, with the redesign of the RH inner fenders, the support was moved back to the RH side on SB AC cars. All later `66 and `67 SB AC cars had the RH support.
