Default idle question

ok, now that it is warm i remember something that bugged me a bit last year. i have a 350 with a speed demon 650 that seems to stick on a high idle, i have to constantly tap my pedal to bring the idle down. at first i really have to tap it once or twice, but once it warms up it gets to be a small tap to get the idle to settle down. i thought at first it was the choke, but could it be the fast idle screw as well? and do i go in or out? sorry for the dumb question, its just that the car gets plenty of attention with out me goosing it every stop light. thanks in advance and happy cruising.....

You may just need a little stronger return spring or some lube on the linkage .

What kind of choke setup do you have on the Demon?

Default I should have said that

sorry, electric choke with vacuum secs., the return spring is stout aftermarket double spring from summit, so i am not thinking it is that, i am leaning towards choke or the fast idle screw adjustment. people think you are being obnoxious when you vroom at stop lights, they dont see you just tapping your gas rather than goosing it. anyway, i would love to fix this damn item before summer gets here.

After warm up, take the aircleaner off and have a look at what's happening. Take if from idle like your driving it on the road and let off like your at a light and see what is hanging it up. It's not rocket science. Probably need some WD40 to take the winters varnish off the fast idle pivots and linkage.

Then back out your fast idle screw a turn or so to see if that doesn't stop the fast idling. You'll be able to drive it whithout goosing it at the stop light. More than likely you still have a problem in the choke housing that needs to be corrected by disassembly and cleaning to free up the choke's movement.
Good luck.

Good luck.
Warm your Vette up to operating temperature, take off the Air cleaner lid and see if the choke is fully open. If not fully open, make sure you are getting the correct voltage to the electric choke. If you are getting the correct voltage, set the choke to a leaner setting. Also make sure the fast idle cam moves freely.
