Default Protect-o-plate

I was reading a classic car sales mag. which described a 1965 Corvette Convertible with various options and documents one of which was a Protect-O-Plate. I beleived that the Protect-O-Plate did come with the cars till 66. Am I wrong???

Default Pop

Actually a tracking device that was swiped through a credit card type of machine identifying the owner and car.

Its a metal plate that was part of the last page of the owners manual warranty book. It contained only the full serial number of the car [Vette or whatever] and the original owners name and address. Presented to the write up person upon entry to a Dealer for any service to be performed on the car that was identified in the manual....

It also showed the engine code, trans. code, rear axle code, vehicle color and I think the interior color. I'd have to look at mine to be sure. At least they did in 1965.
