I haven't used Wilcox's carpet but I'm thinking about taking advantage of their sale for my '61 carpet. Bear in mind since you live in sunny AZ and I'm in Orlando...if you have a convertible you'll be replacing the carpet every three years anyway. I've bought top of the line carpet for my '66 Mustang convertible and in 3 years it was a faded mess too...just like the cheaper stuff...
Thanks for the input, FTF. Yeah, I'm wanting to take advantage of the sale, too. I'm wondering if they sell the sets from Corvette America, if so, they will be good sets.
They sell ACC carpet. It is OK. I installed ACC carpet in my 65' Coupe last summer. It is thin in some places. Looks OK installed. Personally I'd try Mid America's, or maybe Trim parts stuff. Trim parts just started making carpet for C2's, there stuff is usually high quality. There has also been mixed reviews on Al Knock's stuff.

I was disappointed in the quality. I thought ACC was supposed to be the "good" stuff. Thin in spots and pulls in the loop right out of the box. I guess for the price that is what you get. If I do it again I will use cut pile and probably another brand.

ACC on the right, AK on the left, no contest. Al Knocks carpet is still the best quality currently available. Pilot Dan
I ordered set for my 63 roadster (thats what they call it) from Al Knoch. I am very impressed with the carpet and the customer service.
I ordered on Friday and it arrived at my door the following Tuesday. Either I forget to tell them or they forgot to ask. But I received early carpets for my late 63 (tool wells on the early 63s) they sent me the proper front carpets with a return postage paid label. All within 7 days. I could not have asked for more.
The quality of the carpet is as good as it can get. High quality foam (63) backing etc.. I will be installing it first of next week. Pics will follow.

[QUOTE=rongold;1573709504]I put ACC carpeting in my 67 about 20 years ago, and it still looks great.
Ron,
I'm glad you had a positive experience 20 years ago but I seriously doubt the carpet material they are using today is the same stuff they used back then. Maybe 20 years ago they used quality carpet material, but today's stuff is very poor.
Their reputation among car enthusiasts who have high standards is not good at all. A very good friend of mine is active in the Mustang world. ACC's Mustang carpet is so poorly regarded there that some people have bought an old donor Mustang just for the carpet which they then have dyed.
If indeed ACC's carpeting was even "passable" I seriously doubt they would go to that time, trouble and expense.
I purchased a complete set of ACC carpeting for a Blazer I restored. It was much thinner than the original JP Stevens carpeting and the fit was terrible. In several places it was cut too short. I ended up having the original carpeting dyed. I think it's pretty sad that 24 year old carpeting with over 100K miles on it that's been dyed looks and fits better than ACC's new carpet!
I tried installing Al Knoch carpet in my '67 few years ago. Yeah, the stuff looks great but the fit was horrendous, especially the fit around the rear tire wheel wells... they were way to puffy and it would not lay flat on the rounded tubs. That's what you get for moving from Michigan to El Paso to save on the cheap labor.
The carpet I have in the car now is ACC, which is outrageously expensive at ACC but they sell it cheaper to Corvette America, who in turn sells it even cheaper to Willcox. There seems to be a tremendous markup in this carpet if you buy it directly from ACC.
So I bought a set of pre-cut original style padding and the 80/20 black loop carpet from Willcox and it fit like a glove and looks good. What the heck, they all look the same to me... it's the FIT that counts. The price was way below Al Knoch's too. I had the car judged last October and got a zero point deduct on the carpet, that's good enough for me.
ACC was one of the premier reproduction carpet manufacturers 20-30 years ago.
But once Jack, the owner, moved on (sold it, passed away, I can't remember) I started hearing increasing quality concerns.
The problem I have, is I still think about Jack and all the ACC carpet I bought back then, and my first response is "what a great carpet manufacturer!" but my memories are very old.
I bought ACC carpets for my 60 about 5 years ago (fits perfect and looks great) and I also have it for my 65 coupe but I haven't installed it yet. It looks to be high quality and the few pieces I trial fitted were perfect. All the carpet you get from, ZIP, Corvette America, wilcox and almost everyone else is ACC carpet. If they are that poor, why does everyone sell it? Personally, I won't buy anything from AK and there are many that feel the same way..

Jeff, I was told be a trim shop owner that 5 ACC execs, including the company president were killed in a plane crash about 10 years ago, and the companies quality has gone downhill ever since. He said he rarely ever orders from them anymore.

That sounds familiar. In the 70s Jack would come to our corvette club events at texas world speedway, with carpeting in the back of a standard full size chevy or ford van. He'd set up a card table and sell carpeting. Then again that was so long ago that Mike Yeager of Mid America was just getting his business started selling corvette patches and he'd come to the larger NCCC events with his card tables and products.
I bought ACC carpet from Willcox two years ago for my 1966 Corvette. Had to do a lot of trimming and adjusting fit. But ended up looking nice. Have only driven the car 100 miles since and it is garaged and covered otherwise. A few days ago I took out the clear plastic bow tie floor mat on the driver side and found a large pale yellow faded area. I contacted ACC and they told me this should not have happened but since the warranty was only for a year they could not do anything about it and to contact Willcox. Been waiting on Willcox to reply. I am not impressed with Willcox!!!

I just did a complete carpet replacement on the '66 last month and got it from Willcox. The fit was excellent and most all pieces needed a little outer perimeter trimming which I prefer anyway. The loop looks correct and I have no complaints.
