Default TI Problems

I have a 65 327/365 with factory TI. I replaced the TI harness (Lectric Limited) due to some earlier repairs, updated the amplifier with a new solid state unit, and replaced the magnetic coil in the distributor due to some bad insulation in the lead wires. I have tried two 207 coils. Checked the wire connections but get no spark.

The system did work prior to my body off restoration.

Any suggestions

Do you have voltage going to the coil? Is it grounded? Is the pickup close enough to the reluctor? Did it work before you changed the parts?

Did you know:

You can 'bench test' the system by spinning the dist. shaft by hand (all connected of course). Saves on cranking with the starter.

With your multimeter set on AC milivolts you will be able to read voltage output from the pickup coil. Just spin the shaft by hand.

Swap the two pickup coil wires and try it again.

I had problems with the TI on my 67, car ran very rough smoked etc. I thought it was the carb but a rebuild did not solve the problem. Contacted Dave Fiedler about it and he suggested checking the ground connections first. I removed the amp cleaned the ground connection, fixed the problem.

Thanks for all the tips.
-The system did work before but had a home made resistor bridge in place of the resistor wiring.
-There is voltage going to the coil and the ground is present. I set up an external spark plug and find it has a very weak spark.
-I have gone to both Lectric limited and Dave Fieldler's site for troubleshooting help.
- I bypassed the small leads on the TI module and went directly to the TI Amp but this didn't help. Could the two resistance wires be reversed.
-Does any one know what the value of the two resistance wires should be.
-I will try removing the distributor and manually spinning it.
Again thanks for all your suggestions.
