Default Early Big Block Distributor

Hi, Can anyone tell me if it is a problem to run a distributor with the bottom groove cut all the way around in an early BB . I have read about this somewhere before and I cant find the thread .
If it is a problem can someone please explain it and what will happen if you do run a regular distributor.
Regards Bill Purdy

I believe that there was some discussion on the NCRS board not long ago. You may want to ask there as well.

My understanding is that it is not a problem to use a distributor with the full groove. I think all replacement service distributors have the full groove.

That being said, I have never heard or understood why they came with a partial groove in the first place.
