OK I think I got all the problems solved. I think Jeff and Geek got me on to something when talking about the temp gauge being grounded. Started checking with a probe and found when I grounded the 3rd terminal(only screw stud with nut) gauge seemed to work, so I made a small jumper and grounded it. Seem to work more normal now. Question, was there supposed to be a spade terminal there on the third stud? Mine didnt have one. Also brake lights work now unplugged and reconnected the two curved plugs on the colum and seems to work now. I think I may have to add some additional grounding under the dash, seems to have caused a few problems for me. Thanks for all of you guys that gave imput to my problem, you are the GREATEST!!!!! KC

Nope, no spade terminal. The temp gauge gets it's ground from the cluster. Sounds like you may have an insulator between the gauge and the cluster, and possibly fiber insulators serving as washers on the mounting studs. In any event, properly grounding the temp gauge does matter!
Wow, I am impressed! 28 hours and this electrical nightmare has been solved. Just think if the car was taken to a repair shop. How long would it have taken and how much would this have cost. Nobody could know for sure.
