Default Pinion Flanges

What is the difference between a '63-'64 and 1965 and up?
I am not sure what I have in my car even though it is a late '63

The '63-4 (and even prior to that, maybe way back to '57) they had 14 splines and had the cast number "823" on the flange. 1965 and up used the 30-spline (see upper right in pic) and was cast "986" [look closely].

65-70 is one flange and 71-79 is a different flange (I may be off by a year)...same spline count just a larger u-joint for the later one...

'55-'64 had a 17-spline pinion.

Thank you. With my car I never really know what I have until I can prove it
