Rear Engine
I'm new here and hoping someone can help me out. My dad has been telling me about one of his Vettes for a long time. It was a 50s or 60s model that he purchased in Belgium and had it transported to Uganda, where he was living at the time. He says the car had a rear mounted engine. He loved this car but he had to give it away to a friend when he left the country. Does anyone know if there's a Vette with a rear engine? Thanks.

Rear engine vette
I remember reading decades ago that GM/Chevy built a rear engine small block vette. It was an experimental to say the least. As best I can remember, the magazine article went on to say that the car was cut up and ended up in storage. There was a reference to Zora in the mix. The car was found and reassembled. What became of it is anyones guess. If its the same car, it is the Holy Grail of our hobby. Maybe John Z knows about it. Jerry

That was the XP-819, with the engine hung out behind the rear axle; it's owned by Mike Yager of Mid-America Motorworks.
