Default Auto Transporter?

Anyone had a car transported from one section of the country to another? I'm moving a car from California to Mississippi and I'm looking for recommendations for an auto transport company.
Thanks!

Here are a few thoughts:

1. If you search this forum for "transport," you will find at least two earlier threads with a lot of information and recommendations.

2. You definitely want enclosed transport, even though it costs 60% to 100% more than open.

3. Although I used Intercity before, with fine results, I selected Reliable for an upcoming job. Intercity for some reason never responded to my request for a bid, and Reliable had the best price for enclosed transport among the well-known companies. They also seem very cooperative, although I cannot report on the outcome yet.

4. There are online brokers for this type of service, such as uBid. However, I found it a waste of time. Even though I expressly requested bids for enclosed transport and specified that this is not an auction pick-up, all of the initial bids I got through uBid were for open transport and included an additional auction pick-up fee.

Good luck with the move!

I recently used Exotic Car Transport. www.exoticcartransport.com. Scheduling was easy, price was lower than other enclosed carriers, and the service was great.

64_365,

Intercity Lines will be glad to offer you a price quote for your transport from CA to MI. In fact as a forum sponsor, we offer discounted rates to CorvetteForum memebers. Please let us know which cities the car picks up from and delivers to and year, make and model car and we will be glad to give you a price for transport.

I am not sure what happened to C2Dan price request as we respond to all inquiries. Please let us know and we will be glad to shoot you over a price.

Thanks,
Jim

Last fall I called Jim with Intercity to transport a car from RI to Fl. I needed them to call me with a date about a week in advance which is hard to do, so I could get my air travel set. They were there as agreed. The driver was very professional and easy to deal with. My 62 arrived in Miami without a problem and on schedule. I don't recommend many companies, but IMO these guys are good. Good luck. Joe

When I moved to Florida last year, I had 3 cars moved using an enclosed transport service.

I used Thomas Sunday. He is based out of the Carlisle, PA area, about 2 hours from where I used to live in Maryland.

I casually know Tom, through my old Corvette Club. He used to transport all of Chip Miller's cars.

Very professional, reliable, on time, etc.

Cost $2400.00 to move all 3 cars from MD to FL. (1000 miles)

Chuck
