Default C1 Frames

Not to hi-jack the thread about the high selling price of the '62 on FleaBay, I was wondering about frames. I know the seller talked about the repairable rust, but what about the new frames that are available? How good are they? Can you tell them from an original frame. Would it not be the way to go? I don't recall the cost of these frames right now, but it would sure give the car a good platform to continue the restoration on. I know he will probably have too much money in it, but some people just really have the money to not really care.

The C1 reproduction frames I saw at the Winter NCRS Regionals in Florida this January started in the $4,500 range...they looked quite solid and correct. However, they would not have the VIN stamped on the rail as originally done so, yes, they are different.

These were not restomod frames...they were reproductions of the C1 original 'ladder' frame...

i know this is a lonnnng slippery slope; but if i was faced with $4500+ for a new frame, i'd seriously consider a resto frame and the suspension to go with it. the original stuff is just too aggravating...

No problem. I am just not a resto guy. I certainly can admire what some are able to do though. I have been driving a real '62 since '72 and that is why I drive them. The whole essence of the real deal.
