I would keep your 64 as is. Installing a split window is extremely expensive. The 63 window trim is different from the 64-67 trim. Your car would look odd if you did it. But again, it's your quarter.

The OP can certainly do whatever he wants with his car but to me its a significant amount of work for very small aesthetic value.
Now that is an interesting observation.... I have heard lots of descriptors, but very small aesthetic value is a new one. Most have described Shinoda's 63 split design as one of if not the most beautiful pure design EVER.
her name is Janice Clift and she didn`t come with it and was driving a Vette then, in fact the subject matter of this thread, # 30867S111202 with a 64 window.....

how is it that you happen to know the model in an AMC Pacer photo?

Been toying with the idea of installing the 63 rear window setup to my
64 resto coupe. Anyone tried this before? What's involved besides the
glass, window trim, center fiberglass piece, etc?
No haters please...just some helpful ideas. TIA
It's a 64 resto coupe, so as far as I'm concerned there is no harm done. As others have said all pieces are available except for some trim... don't forget about the interior trim pieces. Those are probably just as hard to find as the exterior trim.
As far as all this talk about reduced rear vision... I've had my 63 since 1982... never a problem.
i am currently building a 1966 corvette prostreet. the car is a complete tube chassis. i am also thinking of converting my 66 to a 63 split window. everyone says the chrome is $3,000. i am thinking of flushing mounting all the glass, like the new cars are being done today, do away with the stainless all together. i like the look of the flushed mounded glass. i might even shave the door handles and locks as well, this will be built with style, my rear tires RE 33X22X15 WITH A FORD 9'' 463 GEARS, POWERED BY A 468 CI BBC BUILD WITH THE BEST ROTATING ASSEMBLIES. MOTOR SUPPOSE TO HAVE 600HP AND IT HAS 2 (200HP)WHICH AVERAGES T ABOUT 1000HP. WINDOW NEEDRASISED UP AND FLUSED
I've always thought SOMEBODY should make a fiberglass center strip to lay on the middle of '64-'67 coupe rear glass. It would be primered to accept whatever color paint the recipient car is, extending over the rubber and chrome trim at top and bottom of the one-piece window. And it would have matching black rubber and chrome strips to lay against the glass, tapered to meet the existing perimeter trims.
It could be attached with simple suction cups, or rubber-coated magnets that would clamp through the glass to a matching inner piece.
Doing it right would not be inexpensive, but a LOT cheaper than permanently installing real split glass, supports and trim. The split look is not functional, just cool-looking from the outside.
The rumors have ramped up in recent years about repro split window rear molding....supposedly Dan Shore of Fantomworks has a deal working with a fabricator to produce it soon. But, who knows ? It may never happen, or, it may come out of the blue -- like the repro C1 brake warning light flasher switches. Rare as hen's teeth for decades and now reproduced by Tom Maxwell...
Have done this, no big deal.
As explained here, the most expensive stuff is the rear stainless. Corner sections are now available repro and can be got on ebay, but yep, other punters are dead right, stainless will run at $2.5k-$3k, and that's if you can find it.
Logistics of finding the fibreglass centre section is fine, can get this from many vendors. I got mine from AGI, quality OK, a bit thick thou, but we made it work.
Glass is available, no problems.
If you want to make it more authentic. you may want to remove the vents on the roof ( year specific ), and install scallops of the '63 ( again, year specific ).
If you have a hankering for a '63 mate, just do it, and don't look back.
