Like any used Corvette dealer, you'll find pros and cons with Mershons. I have dealt with Danny both buying and selling cars.

I like Danny and have had positive experiences.

I have visited their site and spoken to them. Nice guy. I'm sure that you won't get a steal but I'd like to think that you get a car that has been "gone over" with an honest list of what's right and wrong with the car.
That's my impression but I really don't know for sure.

I've been around the hobby longer than this forum. Besides, I'm married. Can't get any more scared than that!

I've dealt with Mershon's before and like was said above there is good and bad. They are in this business to make money like any other business so if you're buying a car from them, you're going to pay a few thousand more than you would with a private seller. By the same token, the car will have been at least gone over by somebody that knows a lot about these cars. They deal fairly with their customers, but your not going to get an unbeatable deal from them either. Like any other business they have satisfied customers and dis-satisfied customers and the dis-satisfied ones are always more vocal.

Default Satisfied customer

I bought one from them in fall of 2007. Paid retail as I expected. It needed some normal mechanical repairs to suit me, as I expected. They were fine to deal with, car had no surprises. Now I have a good solid '65 driver that I will actually drive unlike some of my other cars.

Like Saturday, my wife wanted to go check on something in the next county and we took the Corvette. Weather forecast called for cloudy skys but no rain. I had seen a sprinkle in Indy earlier in the day, but when is the weather man ever wrong, with all of their expensive equipment??

I had told her before that these cars were known to leak in the rain, but she does not seem to recall that. But then she probably doesn't listen to my "car talk" in much detail, except how much is one going to cost.

Anyway, off we go with the top down, as we roll into Nashville, IN it is sprinkling, but we only got damp at the stop lights. Heading on to Bloomington it starts pouring, I stop at Brown County Park and we put the top up. Now we are dry, right??

Head out at 55 mph driving into a hard rain, guess that seal on top of the windshield is leaking a little??!! Good thing I brought two large bath towels. Got pretty wet (even my left shoe was wet, maybe more leaks than on top of the windshield), we laughed a lot. Good time. I don't think she will agree to take it on next Route 66 trip, but I am still planning it.

She said her 65 Mustang convertible never leaked, I said well this for sure is no FixOrRepairDaily. And proud of it!!

The fan has been blowing on it and it is about dry, no damage done and a good time had by all!!!

It is a good old car (but I still bring her to push it off of the road, AAA card, cell phone, fire extinguisher, tools, etc. on every trip).

Thanks Mershon's. Bob Williamson

Satisfied customer too. They are a car dealership and you are a buyer. You need to be as educated as possible about any car you are considering. Very fair people and good to deal with. I would definitely buy from them again.

Don't worry, no one will give you a hard time for having good experiences with them. But if you start defending them when they are selling something as something it is not...well that could be a different story. GC2X4 has firsthand experience in a matter of that type.

this could be said about private sellers as well. How many times have you heard from an owner that his car originally came with that motor or this 6 tail lights or this color. All of which never happened.I paid to have a '67 inspected. The car turned out to have been a retagged '66.Best money that I ever spent.Knowledge is king and if you do not have it pay some one who does.It really is worth it

negotiated a deal on a 65 vert with them a few years ago, to be my first midyear. Met them at Carlisle to inspect car, etc. - they did a good job at sprucing up the cosmetics but the mechanicals were rough. Big crack in intake where oil tube fits in, headlight motors didn't work, exterior lights were not fully functional, one or two of the gauges weren't operational.
Why would they waste my time and not correctly prep. a car for someone who traveled a few hundred miles with a trailer?
Really ticked me off, bull****ting *******s looking to make $$ and could care less about offering a safe reliable vehicle.

with the woes that you described that would put that car in with 70% of the mid years on the road.

Sorry to go off topic here.

stickers,

EXACTLY our experience...more than once! You hit the nail on the head. Funny my wife and I used large towels to catch the big drips...didn't worry about the floor. These cars LEAK.

When we got back home I dropped the top and parked her out in the sun. At night in the garage I left a low watt trouble light on the floor to aid the dry out. Good as new. Just plan ahead on your trips for this kind of issue to happen. Right on about AAA, credit card and cell phone. Having your spouse to help with the pushing and mopping...PRICELESS!!

Overtime I've gone over all the door seals (made sure that triangle shaped rubber seal in the jam is truly glued down and the drain hole is exposed).

I'll see how my new top with all new weatherstripping (including the header) seals up. With the old top and seals, you would think I had a windmill across the header at anything above 30 mph

Jim

I was far from green at that point in time & also had hired someone with decades of midyear experience to inspect car.

perhaps, but would it not be prudent for a dealer to remedy these issues prior to sale?
Should prospective buyers ask the Mershon's rep. the following:
- do the headlights work?
- do the headlight buckets work
- do the parking lights work
- do the brake lights work?
- does the emergency brake work

With a reasonable amount of certainty one would expect that safety systems noted above should be operational, especially when purchased from a dealer.
So, should I have dropped nearly $ 50K and thanked them for selling me the car?????

Can't say for sure if your number (70%) is correct or not but will confirm that my current 65 BB coupe fits within the 30% of midyears, which all mechanical systems are fully functional.
