I have the Pertronix II and Flamethrower coil. The Pertronix red wire on my car is connected to the hot wire at the ballast resistor, which in my configuration becomes a simple junction block for 3 wires. However you can hook it directly to the + terminal on the coil.
I have the ignitor II, using an Accel Coil w/ Digital box (300+ system)
Ok, the Ignitor II prefers a direct 12 volts, but bypassing the ballast resistor or not is dependent upon the coil. I'm guessing your Accel box bypasses the ballast resistor already.
Yes Jeff it does....I took it off the firewall, and now have a super coil or whatever they call it...."lethal voltage" it says on it....
So am I reading it right to say 12v ign power source, which would be in the start/run positions only?
And from where would I grab a wire that fits that requirement.

Yep

64 365hp.
I'm not familiar with your coil, but if your ballast resistor has been bypassed, somewhere you should have a 12V source off the ignition switch that previously went to the ballast. Or, your Accel box should have a 12V source on it somewhere.

OK, that makes sense Jeff....if you couldn't tell I suck at electrical stuff.
So I got fire power, but when I rev the engine past 2K, it wants to misfire. Popping out of the exhaust. NO backfire through the carb. Seems to idle ok, just wont rev.
Timing is set at 12* btdc, I have no vac advance.
Check the Pertronix to ensure it is tightly installed. Also see if the magnetic ring is interfering with the top of the module, or if the gap between the ring and module is too large.
An easy way to confirm the ring is not interfering with the module under load, is to "paint" the top surface of the module with a black magic marker. Start the car and run the engine at various RPMs. Shut the car off, pull the distributor cap, and see if any black magic marker has been rubbed off the top of the module.
thanks Jeff, I'll give that a go.
I set it up and had not more or less than they suggested, but did have a difference in clearance 180* apart. I shimmed the lower gear too.
