As follow up to couple of my responses below are some pics. It was 64 that was cut in half, poorly i might add. It will be a resto rod with 67 fenders, backup lights, etc.
What we started with:
Removed firewall, typical rust issue. Scary to know how many frameoff,NCRS cars might have this issue.
Fixed bird cage rust issue, then applied POR15
Finished bird cage ready to put body back on. Know I will know what's underneath the body.
Just pulled mine out -- I agree that it's nice to know what's underneath the body. A heck of a lot of work, though.
BTW, noticed that Sermersheim's has just started offering the full rocker replacement panel. When I was picking up the front clip for mine they were working on the tooling to make the part. Nice to see that they progressed the project.
I've been able to find all the press molded parts except for the floor panels and the firewall. Are yours in good enough condition to reuse or what are you going to do?
I have a question, when the body is back on the frame how much of the birdcage should you be able to see with the kick panels removed? I looked at a 65 last week and on both sides at the kick panels it was rusted all the way through.
Having done 2 C4 setups with other cars, looking at possibly going with C6 suspension setup. Will have to cut the floors but obviously that is not a concern
LSA engine has a lot intrigue for me as it is less expensive than LS9 and doesn't have plumbing headaches of LS7. Can't even come close to using all the horsepower, so it is all about ego
