Default V wire shields

is it possible to install the "V" shaped spark plug wire shields without removing the exhaust manifolds ? If so , how ?

As long as you don't have headers, it is easy, if you don't have the plug wires run, just find the correct length one's push the dis. cap end first over the engine mount, they are tight but they fit, run them all the way to the clip on pan to bracket on rear of engine, from under the car take out the one motor mount bolt (mount to block) that the v bolts to, put the v in position and put the 1/4 in rear bolt in finger tight and put mount bolt back in.

It can be done without major issues. I did my 1967 small block about ten years ago, without any problems.

I did mine with the exhaust manifolds on. It's do-able but a bit of a bitch. It's no wonder most of that chrome went missing soon after these cars were taken home from the dealership.....hehe.

I tried for about an hour today to get them in place but just couldn't get it to work . I don't know if I'm trying to install them wrong or maybe I have the wrong motor mounts .
Anyone have a pic or two of what they should look like when installed ?

See photos below. The forward end goes under the rear upper motormount bolt head, and the long bracket at the rear attaches common with the rear spark plug heat shield bolt.

Default v shields

Thanks JohnZ (once again) -

I'm going to have to pull my engine again to address the overheating problem . It tested positive twice for exhaust gasses in the coolant .
So- now I have some good pictures showing how to install the V shields.
I might have non-original motor mounts on the car 'cause when I was trying to line em up before the mount hit the side of the shield . I will probably have to notch the shields to make them work or look for original style motor mounts .

If you have the later interlocking mounts, the instructions below show how to notch the forward end of the V-shields to clear the newer mounts.

These might help some. Not stock mounts and I did have to notch my boomerangs to get them to fit but you should get the idea.
