The "under-dash" evaporator is like the old GM "hang-on" accessory A/C units; they had a chrome face with the outlets, and hung down between the bottom of the dash and the tunnel.

Ford had the same type of 'hang down' unit as shown in my '66 Mustang. I can't imagine them in a C1 or C2 so I think they must have an alternative arrangement.
