I am curious also. If it's the same car I am thinking of, I used to see it at National Speedway in Long Island in the late 60's. Jerry

Kevin McKay (New York restorer) did the restoration on the original about 15 years ago. I remember seeing it when it was just finished at the Cypress Gardens NCRS Florida meet (Winter Haven, Florida).

That's my memory...more than 1 Bounty Hunter. There is NO telling what cars will bring in this economy right now short of 'testing the waters'!

It won't sell. Complete waste of time. 135 won't cover the restoration down payment. A large auction company with proper hype will tempt some financial healed individual who cares nothing about cars or their history to purchase it as a centerpiece for his garagezilla. One thing for certain... it will never see the light of day after the transfer. And what a shame history like this isn't rumbled through the streets for the sound of music we all enjoy. Thank god for replicas and those who replicate them.

He bought alot of cars from mustangs to hemi cudas. I'm sure he has some radical GM marks as well. He has another castle garage filled with items one could only wish to view. Reggie Jackson still has a stable full also.

That is what I call an excellent job of promoting a sale. I bet even they didn't dream it would get that much attention. Don't forget the articles, promotional advertising and sponsor moneys that added up to a small fortune.

Gorgeous car but I don't see any reference to National Records, World Points achievements, National Class wins or National Eliminator titles in either NHRA or AHRA. Does anyone have a sense as to what this car achieved? Local Class wins are nice but the description doesn't indicate the former which would improve the price getting closer to the reserve.

It might also have seen some organized 1/4 mile duty like NHRA and/or AHRA.
Don't confuse this with the Astoria Charles Motion Performance L-88 car that was also running the strip and streets of NYC during this same time.

Vietnam casualty Astoria Chas's car was called "Ko-Motion", it remained in the family for decades and was fully restored a few years ago.
I don't think any C2 could beat "The Last Sting Ray's" sale price unless it won at Le Mans, and none did. The '67 Dana Chevrolet 'Vette led to the half-way point before expiring, no cigar.

If the seller has it priced like 99% of the ones on ebay, it wont make reserve. I think maybe 5% sell the first time. Most I have followed are relisted many, many times with the seller lowering the reserve several times before its sold. I dont really understand why sellers dont put a realistic price on the car and just sell it privately and quickly so they dont have to pay ebay.

That is one wicked car, but watch the video and you can tell the driver is afraid of blowing something up. I don't think he got over 4000 RPM. That is the problem with a car this valuable; it's worth too much to drive like it should be. Dude lives in some nice digs. and check out his neighbors' estates. Man, I love this car. I'll be back, I gotta run up and buy a Lottery ticket
