i had posted that my car would stall after driving it for an hour or so. every time i came up to a stop sign it would stall but start right back up. after installing new fuel pump, new gaskets to block exhaust cross over, half inch insulated carb gasket, insulated the gas lines, it didn't change a thing. then i changed the carbuator and now she runs great!! know more stalling. just thought some of you with the same problem would like to know. i can't tell you what was wrong with the carb. but the carb was the problem!!!!! hope this helps someone else out!!!!!
I had the same problem with the AFB on my 63'. I found you had to find the exact sweet spot between fuel/air mixture and the idle adjustment so the idle circuit slots were uncovered by the butterflies just enough. I still find that it idles higher until really hot and then idles just about right. I could be wrong but I attribute it to heat expansion allowing the butterflies to close just that much more........
