Headlight problem
Just wanted to know if there was a previous post on how to trouble shoot or repair the lazy driver side headlight on my 66. Takes a while to turn on while the passenger runs smooth.
Thanks
Morris
Chances are the motor needs to be pulled out and cleaned, assuming there's no binding in the pivot mechanism of the headlight bucket itself.
Forum member BarryK has an excellent set of tech articles located at

On that site is an article on rebuilding headlight motors.

It's found under the Body & Frame section of Barry's site.
The hardest part of the task is getting the motor out through the opening between the hood and the nose of the car. Removing the hood support and tilting the hood a little more forward (over-open) helps that situation. The motors are easy to take apart and clean. Getting the old hard grease out and replacing it with new lube helps.

against those guyz charging $128 per motor to rebuild them.
The only thing I disagree with is turning the gear 180*. Just buy a new gear and run it 4-5 minutes each direction on the workbench. Seats the motor brushes.
