I think he means 'guardsman red', as is the red tunics worn by the mounties and Brit royal guards. I've heard it as a car color, not sure which company.
The color Guards Red, is an older Porsche color, some call it Porsche red, I believe the number is 272? not sure, I have looked at so many shades of red. I had no idea how many different reds there are, I am about to apply the color on my 58 and my painter is pushing for guards red with 04' vette white cove. I'm just doing my home work,
any help would be appricated
go to google images and type in guards red. You'll see a bunch of porsche pictures. further search with vette yields very few results of which you seek.

You beat me to it. I used "Porsche Guards Red" in a Google search, LOTS of cars . . . .
Thanks guys, I have researched the color on the internet, but was hoping for input from someone that applied it on a c-1, looks like there is a tint of orange in the color ( if my monitor colors are correct) anyways I should have the body on in about a month and will update with photos
Thanks again,
P. S. whats your input on the Brass trunk Irons from PA

My old 930 Turbo was guards red. It looked great in the daylight. Look like a washed out orange/red color under parking lot lights. Not my favorite red at night. Was one of my favorite cars though.

the orange tint under neon has me second guessing
thanks
Ferrari red looks great under night lighting.Maybe the later Porsche Reds have corrected that milky look at night.IMHO the Corvette red from that era is pretty nice too.
Hey Oldskol58. At the risk of asking an obvious question, are you sure you’re not looking for Signet Red?
By your screen name, are we to assume that you have a ’58? That was the only year with Signet Red as an option from Chevy, which is an orange-red. I think it’s pretty close to Guards red that you’re describing.
I've looked at signet red , I am going for a lil brighter red, was leaning towards Victory red but my painter is trying to talk me into the Guards Red,

Signet red is more pink actually. Was a very pastel looking color, like most of the `58 line up.
As a Porsche fan too(have a 911 twin turbo)the guards red paint is the main red Porsche colour also named Indish rot(the German name of the colour)
I friend of mine had a 1971 Corvette convertible painted in guards red and that car looked really nice in that colour
I must add that i would never buy a silver Porsche because almost every Porsche you see is that colour(here in Norway at least)

My Riverside Red paint turned "taco sauce brown" under flourescent lights (at a burger cruise, for example). Had it painted Guards Red in 1983 after seeing many gorgeous C-3's in Corvette Mike's showroom; he whispered the secret to me.
