black would be better than chrome; but stitched would be best of all...

Thanks guys. It was easy to make. I didn't want anything that was too big and bulky. I may change the edging to Red or Chrome if I can find a decent size width.

on all counts.

The drinks don't get in the way of shifting at all for me, even when one is in the front holder. Your arm is to the left side of the whole setup, and for me it sits far enough back that there's no interference. I have a 15" steering wheel that gives me a little more room & that might make some difference.

I have been in touch with Dave, the guy that makes these. He's going to look for charcoal fabric to match my interior (which is nearly black anyway) and black finishing screws instead of the chrome ones.
I'll report back when I get it.

I don't know why some enterprising soul isn't making a really nice setup for this purpose like I used to run in my old '66 Mustangs...cup holder/armrest/flip up storage area combined and fits snugly over the tranny hump. I actually thought of buying one of these for my vette to see if it would fit but I'm sure its too wide (and at $125 its an expensive experiment).

Think of it as a business expense for your new venture!

Corvette Central or Paragon sells one that looks like this but made from clear plastic.

You spray paint the underside of the clear plastic holder with your favorite color for a professional color change.

But in answer to where do you put stuff:

Coins go in your pants pocket.

Cell phone? Hate 'em, but when I do take it, it goes in the package tray until I want to call someone, I don't turn it on otherwise.

Beer can/bottle goes between your legs. If it is a can, dent the part of the can just under the opening so you can face the opening forward by feel, so when you stomp the gas, beer doesn't slop out all over your crotch. The dent in the can also helps your mouth locate the hole when you are cruising around at night so you don't pour beer down the front of your shirt. Old high school/college trick I figured out 30-35 years ago.

If you get into an impromptu drag race, you hand your beer to your buddy to hold, along with his beer.

This of course was back when having open containers in the car wasn't against the law.

Thanks for all the cool ideas. I was going to take a block of Delrin and machine one up but this will save me lots of time.

Bill, where did you get the one you're using.

Thanks,
Dave

Corvette Central sells a CLEAR one that fits between the seats. You can hardly see it if it's empty. IMO it's a bit pricy at $49, but it's designed specifically for C1s, so if it works well it might be worth it.

I also saw one similar to this that has a hole cut-out for the shifter and uses the are over the ashtray and in front of the clock. I'll look around and see if I can find it.

I couldn't find anything I liked, so I whittled this up. Removable if I find something else I like.
