Default ANOTHER AC QUESTION/Problem!

I bought a new set of AC hoses to install in my factory a/c system. All worked great except for the short hose that goes from the manifold on the compressor to the STV valve near the firewall. The manifold angles down then the hose goes back to the stv valve fitting. The hose turns down towards the ground in order to connect to the stv fitting. This causes a crimp in the hose....what do i need to do ??? I certainly would appreciate your input. Has anyone seen this before?

That hose goes straight rearward from the compressor, almost to the firewall, before it turns down to connect to the tube on the STV valve. See your Assembly Manual, section C60, sheet D6. Is that what yours looks like?

sounds like you need to shorten it a bit. That should take the kink out.

How old is your radiator?

In addition to making sure your radiator is up to the job:

are you sure your gage is correct? Put an IR gun on the rad hose exiting the thermo housing.

even if it is, 210 became mid-scale on the gage in '66

are you running a 7-blade fan? clutch known good? have you modified the clutch spring position to improve viscous coupling? (archives)

the rubber airdam on top of the core support is a good addition.
Louvered splash shields seem to help a bit. See the thread in the parts section.

I don't know of a silver bullet here --just a bunch of incremental improvements.

Welcome to the wonderful world of midyear A/C ownership!
