Is the exterior or outer windshield trim on a 1963 convertable one year only ?

Only the lower center piece. The rest are common thru 67.

so what are the differences between the 1963 & 1964 lower stainless for convertables ?

The 63 lower stainless moulding has a different profile than the 64. Reason being is the 63 moulding attatches to clips that clip over the pinch welded windshield frame underneath the windshield rubber weatherstrip. On 64 and up the lower moulding attatches to clips that are screwed into the pinch welded windshield frame outside of the rubber weatherstrip. Almost. Thus the smaller profile on the 64 and up. Ref the 63 and 64 AIM. Hope this helps.

I had my 63 convertible painted a few years ago. Didn't even mess with trying to remove the lower SS trim. Left it on, and masked around it.

I knew that the mounting was different. Rene-paul has explained the difference. Thank you.
