Default A/C Question

I removed the compressor a few years ago on my '66, and getting ready to install a new one (it was 94 here today). I was looking at the AIM in the C60 section, and it shows a small washer between the compressor bracket and the motor bracket on L79 only. I don't see this in Paragon, Volunteer, LICS, Zip, etc. catalogs. Also the mounting bolts are different, assuming they are longer due to the spacer. I'm sure it's there for alignment reasons. Does anyone know the proper thickness, and OD? Or, is anyone with an L79 see a washer there? The part number is 3706737, item 19 in AIM. thanks, Joe

when I removed the BB and its compressor, I just "shimmed as necessary" on the A-C brackets for the SB (I assume an L79 is an SB? - I don't want to look it up)

no biggie

Did you ever find an answer to this Joe? I'm curious about those same washers for my '66 L79 with A/C. Looking for the part number online, I got a 13/32 ID, 3/4 OD, and 3/16 for the washer, but no vender has it listed.

Try this:

http://1967-81camarocarparts.com/ Then click on the Order Parts, and then do a search for Part Number #3706737. Shows available for $0.75.

However, since minimum shipping is $6.50, you may want to order a dozen.

Yeah I emailed them and they said that the washer they had was only .13" thick instead of the original .18". They also said they were going to update their catalog by removing the GM number, but I guess they haven't gotten aroound to it yet.

I went to a local fastener store and picked up a few different thickness washers. Still haven't gotten around to mounting it. I mounted compressor without a shim, and laid a straight edge and looks real close without a shim, so I am betting either the 1/16, 1/8", or 3/16" will work. I have slightly different O.D.'s but don't think anyone will notice. Joe

My Vintage Air comp bracket kit came with spacers of various sizes. I bet they will sell you what ever you need.

Default Measured mine

I pulled my compressor Monday night and went back yesterday and measured the washer. I get .75" OD, .40" ID and .12" thick. Not sure that this is the orginal or if it's the washer you're interested in.

Hope this helps.
