Default Courtesy light help:

Looking for help from the electrical gurus of the forum. Everytime I put a bulb on the passenger side courtesy light I blow a fuse. The drivers side, and rear compartment work fine. I took out the glove box out trying to find if it was wire that was frayed but it appears fine.I also noticed the the black and orange wire that goes to the glove box is not hot. I have the electrical chart and started following wires but obviously I must be missing something. Any suggestions ??

Are you putting the correct bulb in the socket - it's really different. Instead of the usual power to contact and base ground, it's a two contact where one is power and the other is ground.

PS Putting in a single contact bulb shorts power to ground.

Maybe your courtesy light socket shorts when bulb is installed?

Dave, I must have spent a few hours following the electrical chart to see if it was a grounded wire.If I just would have matched up the bulb with the socket and noticed that one side was not making contact my problem would have been a very easy fix. Thanks for the quick response. You guys are the best !!

Vic,
there is a link to a simplified wiring diagram in the help section at the bottom of my web page. It will save time for you. Print it in any size you want, or change a saved copy with any good picture editor to include any custom changes or accessories. I keep a copy in my glove box.
