My situation: I have a 63 convertible. She has a 283 and a 2 speed Powerglide tranny. Clearly I am not concerned with serious performance here ha
The suspension that is on it now is extremely stiff and heavy duty. We believe that the previous owners were planning on dropping in a big block and set the car up for something serious. Obviously he/she never got there.
Recently I got new radial tires. That helped with the ride tremendously. Yet, it still feels like we are riding in a go-cart. I would like some advice on a new suspension setup that rides a little easier.
So where do I start? Transverse leaf spring? Coil springs? I was under there recently and noted that all of my bushings looked decent.
Replacing the rear spring with a known '63 factory spec one, and the same for the front pair, along with a good set of gas shocks should get you an improved ride. Have you ridden in any other '63 that you know is stock/correct? By doing so you should be able to make a good comparison to your car. Dennis

Well I have ridden in a friend's 65. It rode a little nicer, but he also had the big block. Ill still give him a call to see what his are spec'd at. Do you have any suggestions on brands? Thanks
