Thinking of leaving my c2 in the fun field at Carlisle all night. Has anybody ever done this? Is it possible ? Who watches the cars if anybody? Good or bad idea?

i always decline the choice to leave my 66 at an event....most are guarded, so what??...jmo...
After hours, only one gate is open and always with a gaurd on duty. I have left a car on the field overnight for at least the past 12 - 15 years with no problems what so ever. If you think about it, the cars are not safe anywhere, esp. in this day of age. I loose sleep leaving the car parked outside a hotel and trailers are no longer safe as they are now stealing the car, trailer and tow vehical. If you decide to leave it on the field, the only person that can mess with it is a fellow hobbyist.

Are people aloud to stay on the grounds all night?

yes, they even have shows up there for people. I feel lucky to be able to take the car home over night and sleep at home. then go back up the next day.

There have been items stolen from cars on the Fun Field over the last few years. I would say you have very little to gain and alot to lose by leaving your classic Corvette unattended.
I don't think your car would come up missing, but parts could. Gas caps come to mind. I would like to think all is safe, but I would not leave my car if I had another choice. It sucks, but it's just the way it is.

They steal stuff right off vendors' tables anymore so I wouldn't consider the fun field particularly safe. I always insist on a parking space visible from the reception desk at hotels as close to the 'check in' area as possible and well lighted. I usually cover the car....haven't had a problem so far.
Last couple of years they have been stealing oil caps and gas caps from cars. Someone needs their finger slammed in a door but until this happens I would think twice.

Its about a 85 mile trip 1 way. With 411 rear and now I think I may have a bad u-joint. I'm trying to get in a shop before the show ,but if I don't I'm crazy enough that I'll drive it anyway. I.ve been waiting all year for this show. Last year was the frist time I ever had a car there.and I had a ball. Even with driving back and forth all three days.
