Default Hurst

I need some help deciding which new Hurst shifter is best for my 58 T-10 4 speed. The old comp plus is just getting cranky and rather than mess about with it, I would just as soon buy a new shifter and the appropriate kit. Im open to suggestions from anyone especially anyone who has just installed one . Thanks

Don.

Back in the 60s I remember that George Hurst guaranteed his shifters for life. Mr Gasket now owns Hurst and perhaps might honor the warranty. I know they will restore shifters that are manufactured by them for a price. I'm still using an early 60s vintage Comp + in my 62 and it still shifts as well as the day I bought it.

Very easy to rebuild it. I just finished the job and it was fairly simple to clean up.

I'd rather rebuild a tried and true one, than risk my $$ on a new (junk) one. Find out where they're made first.

Try replacing the bushings and spring clips, readjust, and lubricate. New shifters are not cheap.

the new hurst shifters are made overseas. they are not as good. i tried putting the steel bushings kit on one. the rod ends are so out of round that the bushings would not go on.

Just put a Competition Plus in my 60 (new kit). Installation was easy, just as you would expect.
Would not use anything else.
