I went to an AACA National meet over the weekend and really was treated great. Everyone thanked me for coming and bringing my car. ALL the judges were very friendly and polite! Not a "Know it All" in the group. Not like the other rude arrogant club I use to belong to. If your looking for a Fun, Friendly club. I suggest AACA.
as much as I liked my experience with the ACAA with my Chevelle I still like the other group as you call it to learn. but please don't turn this into a bashing contest.
NowhereMan, to each his own. But if you had been treated as rudely and ignorantly as I was treated I wonder if you would still feel the same. Also he had everyone come around and make sure that they all knew what mistake I had made, you would have quit them too. I now tell every single Vette owner I meet what they did and how I was treated.
I have been around two chapters with two different experiences. the one group of people are some of the nicest people I have ever meet in the old car hobby and have treated me like they knew me for every. since I am young they are taking me under there wing and hoping I stay with them for a long time. the second one. well you said it your self. don't give up on them all together. there are some really good ones out there.
Nowhere Man, I canceled my membership and told them to give away my membership number. I have told everyone the same thing I'll tell you. I'd burn my truck ,trailer and restored Corvette to the ground before I EVER return to the horrible group of people

Where you in Blacksburg? I came over and looked at all the cars.

Actually , I'm not in Virginia. I really don't want to go into what happened. I didn't start this thread to bash that group. I do hate them , but thats whole a other thread. I just wanted to say how happy I was attending the Blacksburg, Va AACA meet.
I have been doing AACA meets since 1998 with our '65. Most recent one was last year in Nashville.....it achieved a First Preservation Award....this recognized originality to the way it left the factory and condition. Before you go for that one, you go for "First Junior" and "First Senior" awards. AACA meets are interesting to me because it is more than just Corvettes....its EVERYTHING under the sun that is 25 years or older. Check out a national meet....Hershey is coming up in October.....it is the ultimate old car event. That said....I also love Corvettes at Carlisle and I do enjoy attending NCRS Meets...though I dont enter my car anymore (it got a National Top Flight about 10 years ago in Bowling Green). I never took offense to NCRS judging....in fact, I always appreciated all the work, effort and time that went into the judging process and actually appreciated the info on how to improve the originality of my car. Everyone's experience may vary, but I was always pleased and glad to participate. HEY...another club to check out is the VCCA (Vintage Chevrolet Club of America)......they are similar to AACA in some ways, just not as huge....I have done their shows too. They have a great magazine for members (just as AACA does). Enjoy.
wow, now that's a new approach... I bet there would be more car club members if all clubs were like that !
Most multi-marque car shows are like that. It's the single marque ones that take an elitist approach. As you might guess I do not partake in any Corvette shows. At a large multi-marque show this past weekend in VT my '62 (along with many other great cars) were appreciated by all. I could see lots of people taking photos of wifes/husbands next to the cars. I saw one couple taking a couple next to my '62. I ask the wife if she wanted to sit in my car to have her photo taken. She first asked if it was my car ! I said yes, hubby took a couple of photos, she was delighted. Turned out they were from Finland up in the area and went to the street fair that evening (where my car and others were parked) to see all the "American Cars" I think they left happy
I wish I had thought that any of the forum members were possibly attending I would have loved to met you. What cars did you bring hopefully I can remember the Corvettes. Did any of you place? I think the 67 big block was possibily the best restored Corvette I have ever seen. It was actually better than new. I just did a body off last year on my 64 and I mine couldn't hold a candle to that one.
