I'm in the process of refurbishing my interior and will shortly rebuild my suspension, prior to pulling the steering column I noticed on the telescopic steering that it feels a little lose at the steering wheel area, I suspect it needs new bearings etc. Also the blinker would stay on after the steering wheel returned until you manually turned it off. Im mechanically inclined and do 90% of all my own work, however never rebuilt a steering column. My questions are:
1. Can I do this myself or is there special tools or knowledge needed.
2. Also is the blinker on a 1965 supposed to click off after you straighten the wheel?
The steering column is very straightforward. If the upper bearing isn't worn, check that it fits snug into the housing. The housing can wear relative to the upper bearing.

It's all pretty straight foreward. I would suggest the purchase of the Corvette assembly manual (AIM) and the Corvette shop manual.
They will be a constant refference in your rebuild. I bought my Shop manual from CCentral and my AIM from the NCRS website.
You will find everything C2 here. Try to learn the search feature. Example: "Steering column rebuild" You will be amazed at the threads that come up.
Thank guys, I have been using the corvette assembly manual and you guys to accomplish a lot of the tasks. By the time Im finished with this 65 I should be able to offer others advice as well.
